THE STOOGES / FUN HOUSE - NEW 2026 RHINO BLU-RAY AUDIO - SEALED - DOLBY ATMOS + HI-RES STEREO
Brand new and factory sealed.
This is Rhino's new 2026 Blu-ray Audio release pairing the first two Stooges albums, The Stooges (1969) and Fun House (1970), on a single disc.
For me, the whole attraction here is hearing this ferocious recording with as little as possible between you and the tapes.
And I know what is on those tapes.
I own and listen to the reel tape of Fun House, and it is absolutely stunning. Raw, physical, huge and startlingly alive. It isn't "audiophile" in the usual polished sense, and thank God for that. You hear the room, the distortion, the attack and that almost dangerous feeling that the whole thing could come apart at any moment.
This copy is sealed, so I'm not going to pretend I've listened to this particular disc. But Rhino went back to the original multitrack tapes, with Ed Stasium creating new Dolby Atmos and high-resolution stereo mixes.
If they have managed to preserve what's on those tapes, this should be one hell of a listen.
That's Fun House.
Recorded in Los Angeles with producer Don Gallucci, the album took everything confrontational about the first Stooges record and pushed it considerably further. More than half a century later, it remains one of the great documents of a rock band playing right at the edge.
And you get the debut as well.
The Stooges contains "1969," "I Wanna Be Your Dog," "No Fun," "Real Cool Time" and the rest of the record that helped establish the vocabulary of punk years before anyone was calling it punk.
