A spectacular and extremely substantial piece of 19th-century furniture with remarkable carved decoration throughout.
The table features a richly carved frieze with scrolling foliate detail and carved mask decoration, supported by large turned and deeply carved bulbous columns.
The base is equally impressive, with a substantial carved central stretcher, sculptural scrollwork and heavily carved feet.
This is an exceptionally heavy, solid and imposing table with tremendous presence from every angle.
It would make a superb centre table, library table, writing table, hall table or statement piece in a country house, period interior, study, library or high-end eclectic interior.

PROVENANCE
According to the previous owner, a lady in her 90s, the table was originally commissioned by her grandfather and was believed to have been made in North Yorkshire around the 1870s.
She stated that the table remained within the same family for generations before its recent acquisition.

CONDITION
The table displays wonderful age, colour and patina throughout.
There are age-related marks, surface scratches, rubbing, small knocks, historic wear and minor losses consistent with a genuine antique piece of this age.
