Bound in half leather with marbled paper covered boards, measuring approx. 23.3cm x 15cm x 2.7cm. The top compartment of spine is torn and peeling (see photos). The leather is rubbed, with some marks. Boards worn and toned. Edges scuffed and bumped and corners hint chipped. Internally there are marbled endpapers to front and rear, the front of which has bookplate (George Kitchin). Pencil inscription to verso of front free endpaper. Cracked at endpapers and in a couple of places throughout (small sections of leaves in these places are detaching and are thus a little bumped to edges). Frontis and engraved title page are foxed/toned with offsetting. Plates are little trimmed. A few scattered pale marks and spots and the occasional crease and offsetting, else overall the majority of contents are in clean condition.

Set in 1529 during the reign of King Henry VIII, it chronicles his pursuit of Anne Boleyn, and the intense political and romantic power struggles of the Tudor court. Featuring real figures like Cardinal Wolsey (who tries to sabotage Henry's desires) and the poet Thomas Wyatt (who loves Anne himself). It traces the dangerous volatility of absolute royal power, culminating in Anne Boleyn's eventual downfall and execution, clearing the way for Jane Seymour.

Shipping

  • We will gladly ship anywhere in the World.
  • We offer FREE UK domestic shipping, fully tracked.
  • We use several services for overseas shipping, under 5kg usually shipped via Royal Mail Tracked. Heavier shipments or faster courier services are available, and we will do our best to accommodate your preferred method.
  • We combine shipping for multiple items (Please wait to be invoiced for multiple purchases for accurate costings).
  • We will also gladly hold purchased items to allow for larger combined shipments, (Please let us know before payment).

Packaging
All our books will be carefully and securely packaged in custom made book boxes (The majority of which are produced Carbon Neutral). The Bubble packaging and boxes are all recyclable, and most tape used is environmentally friendly (we are constantly researching ways to reduce our environmental impact without compromising safe, secure and affordable shipping). We aim to send all items within 24-48 hours of payment.
