Vintage Croydon Precision Instrument Co. Type RB6 Resistance Box, manufactured in England.
A substantial piece of traditional British electrical laboratory and test equipment, housed in a wooden case with a grey instrument panel. It features six large rotary resistance controls, terminal connections and an on/off-style toggle switch.
The panel is clearly marked:
CROYDON PRECISION INSTRUMENT Co.
MADE IN ENGLAND
TYPE RB6
The controls provide a series of resistance ranges in ohms, allowing resistance values to be selected through the individual rotary controls. The panel is also marked “OHMS AT 20°C”, reflecting its original precision laboratory/test application.
Believed to date from around the mid-20th century, approximately the 1950s–1960s, although the precise year of manufacture has not been confirmed.
An attractive piece of vintage British scientific and electrical equipment, suitable for a test-equipment collection, restoration, educational display or as an interesting piece of industrial décor.
