Rare CDV of the fascinating Turkologist and explorer/adventurer, Professor Arminius Vambery.  Thought to be the model for Dr Abraham Van Helsing, in Bram Stoker's Dracula.  It is thought that Vambery was responsible for communicating to Bram Stoker the facts of the real Prince Dracula (Vlad V).

He travelled extensively into dangerous territory in Central Asia and was often accused of being a secret envoy for the Sultan or a spy.  He was a professor of Oriental languages at the University of Budapest.  He spoke many languages including, Russian, English and the Slavic languages.
