A rare pair of bespoke Thomas Goode porcelain side plates, made for the private table service of ANTARCTICA R.Y.S.
Beautiful quality porcelain with a deep cobalt-blue border, finely finished with gilt inner and outer rims, with “ANTARCTICA R.Y.S.” picked out in gold to the upper edge.
Both pieces carry the Thomas Goode – Since 1827 backstamp to the reverse.
These appear to have been specially commissioned rather than forming part of a standard Thomas Goode retail pattern, making them an unusual piece of luxury yacht / maritime tableware.
We had discussed them as being strongly attributed to the private service of M/Y Antarctica, associated with Agustín Edwards Eastman, dating approximately to the late 20th / early 21st century.
Quantity: Pair / 2 plates Diameter: approximately 7 inches / 18 cm Material: Fine porcelain Maker/Retailer: Thomas Goode, London Decoration: Cobalt blue and gilt Inscription: ANTARCTICA R.Y.S.
They appear in very good condition overall, with only minor signs of previous use/age. Please study the photographs as they form part of the description.
A particularly unusual pair for a collector of Thomas Goode, luxury yacht memorabilia, maritime antiques or bespoke commissioned porcelain.
