This is a handmade traditional wall hanging for a ger(yurt). I purchased it in Mongolia. These embroidered wall hangings were made by Kazakh women to be displayed inside the ger – as a form of wall paper! Each wall hanging is hand embroidered and thus unique.
Normally the bottom of the hanging and a couple of the panels are un-finished – this is traditional and represents the unfinished nature of life. In this case the border is complete and the design appears finished.
The hand stitched detail is incredible (see close up photos), Beautiful colours and patterns and full of character. The wall hanging has ties attached so it can be hung. It would look good hung on a wall. Please bear in mind that it is not perfect and has spent a number of years inside a home, there are minor flaws and some aging. It has not been mended or patched, it will have been washed. It weighs approximately 2 kilos and measures 210 cm along the top and 125cm on the side.
Postage rate and insurance.
Last time I asked at the Post Office Second class 48 tracked would cover the postage only on this item, it will not be insured, so it may be advisable to pay a higher postage rate to ensure that the unique wall hanging is insured when you buy it.
