A beautiful antique Black Forest style hand-carved wooden musical fruit bowl / table centrepiece, featuring an exceptionally decorative raised floral border.

The wide circular bowl is surrounded by individually carved flowers, leaves and foliage, including distinctive Alpine-style edelweiss motifs. The centre is turned and recessed, while the bowl sits upon a raised circular pedestal base with three small wooden feet.

Concealed within the base is a traditional mechanical musical movement, operated by the winding key underneath. The mechanism is in working order and plays two different tunes.

A lovely combination of traditional Black Forest-style carving and mechanical music, making this considerably more unusual than a standard carved wooden fruit bowl.

Good used condition and presents well overall.

There are marks and variations to the wooden finish consistent with its age and use. There is a visible split to the pedestal/base section underneath, as shown in the photographs.

The musical mechanism has been tested and is working, playing two different tunes.
