This is a solid, non-folding board with a raised tray-style rim rather than the more commonly encountered folding chess/backgammon box form.

Measures approximately 12 x 12 inches. Constructed from multiple contrasting woods with extensive star and geometric inlay surrounding the playing field. Pale inlay material has not been positively identified and is not represented as ivory.

This board has known family provenance and was acquired in Saudi Arabia prior to 1986, dating it firmly to the mid-1980s or earlier. Stylistically it appears consistent with Syrian/Damascus mosaic work of the mid-to-late 20th century.

Board only; chess pieces are not included. Shows normal vintage wear including surface scratches, discoloration, small marks, age-related wear to the finish and inlay, and general handling wear.
