ANTIQUE VICTORIAN IRON BOUND WOODEN STRONG BOX / TRAVEL CHEST

A wonderfully characterful antique wooden strong box, heavily reinforced with original-style iron strapping and displaying a superb aged patina throughout.

A very decorative piece with a genuine old-world appearance. The timber shows extensive natural wear, marks, colour variation and surface character accumulated through many years of use, while the dark iron bands, riveted construction, front carrying handle and lock plate give the box a particularly strong period look.

The lid opens to reveal a dark fitted interior with internal wooden divisions/racks and retaining chains.

A fantastic decorative antique that would work beautifully in a period interior, Victorian study, library, office or alongside a collection of campaign and travelling antiques.
