RCA's early stereo-orthophonic reel of Beethoven's Symphony No. 7, performed by Fritz Reiner and the Chicago Symphony. These late-'50s Red Seal tapes are known for punchy dynamics and a vivid stereo picture, bringing out the rhythmic drive and elegant phrasing of Reiner's interpretation. A strong early stereo document of one of the CSO's signature performances, delivered at 71/2 IPS for maximum clarity and presence.
