A DYONICS Power Control Unit is an arthroscopic shaver console designed by Smith & Nephew to drive, control, and manage powered instruments, such as shavers, burrs, and saws, during orthopedic procedures. It is primarily used for the resection of soft tissue and bone in joints.

It powers, controls speed, and manages the oscillation/rotation of handpieces.

It automatically recognizes different types of DYONICS blades and burrs to recall preferred settings.

It supports various blade actions, including forward, reverse, and oscillation, which can be controlled via the console or a connected footswitch.

The system is designed to reduce surgical time by improving cutting efficiency and reducing the need for instrument exchanges.
