Set of 5 Antique Carl Thieme Dresden Saxony Reticulated 9.5" Plates
These five beautiful antique cabinet, luncheon or small dinner plates were produced
by the Carl Thieme factory in Dresden, Saxony in a rococo revival style featuring pierced
sections and beautifully vibrant hand painted flowers accented with
gold.
They measure 9-1/2" in diameter with pierced and scalloped rims and exquisitely hand painted floral designs, each plate having a different motif.
They are stamped in blue with the Carl Thieme(Sächsische Porzellanmanufaktur Dresden) mark and hand signed under the base as shown. Also stamped and imported by the famous New York retailer Ovington Brothers, probably in the early 1910's. [Founded in 1843 by Theodore and Edward Ovington, Ovington Brothers was a premier New York importer and retailer of high-end china, glass, and decorative arts. Based in Brooklyn and later Manhattan, the firm, which often retailed items from elite makers like Limoges and Minton, ceased operations under the Ovington's name by 1920.]
The plates are in very fine antique condition with brilliant colors and no chips or cracks, but there are a few random small scrapes in the décor on a couple.
A hard size to find, and all 5 for one price!
