Overview
The ASUS DSL-AC88U is a dual-band 802.11ac Wi-Fi 5 modem-router that combines a built-in DSL modem with a 4T4R antenna array, giving you a single device to handle both your internet connection and whole-home wireless coverage. No separate modem or router needed – one box, one cable to your phone or cable line, and you are online.
It is aimed at gamers, streamers and households with multiple devices. It works with laptops, desktop PCs, smartphones, tablets and smart TVs running Windows 7/8/10/XP or Mac OS, and the QoS engine lets you prioritise game traffic or video calls over background downloads.
The 4T4R (four-transmit, four-receive) antenna design widens Wi-Fi range and stabilises signal strength, while AiRadar beamforming steers a focused beam at each connected device for faster, clearer connections. The ASUSWRT interface offers a 3-step web-based setup for beginners plus a full set of advanced options, and the companion app lets you manage the network from your phone.
