This is the first collection from Zashiki Warashi, an illustrator whose girls arrive dressed in clothes you won't see anywhere else. Across 144 pages you get more than 153 selected illustrations, each one built around a young woman with a distinct wardrobe and a distinct mood — bold, restless, tender, sometimes all at once.
What holds the book together is exactly what its title promises: color. Turning the pages, you watch the artist move through palette after palette, letting outfit, hair, and background push against each other until the emotion of the figure comes through. If you draw characters yourself, it works as a study in how far styling and color choice can carry a portrait.
The text is in Japanese, but this is an art book first — the work speaks directly through the images, so nothing is lost if you don't read the language.
