This is the first collected work of Kiriko Arai, an illustrator who built a devoted following through self-produced work that ranges far beyond flat illustration into sofubi vinyl figures and apparel.
At the center of the book is Okamikun, the wolf character who has become the symbol of Arai's fable-like world. The book gathers the many branching forms this character has taken across time and place, drawing together a large body of illustration work created from 2017 onward, the point at which Arai's activity moved into high gear. A newly drawn story tracing the roots of Okamikun appears here for the first time.
Across 144 pages you also get the visual record of past solo exhibitions, where densely rendered backgrounds bridge the three-dimensional and the two-dimensional, along with photographs of sculptural canvas pieces, sofubi figures, and other goods. It is the fullest picture of Arai's world assembled in one place.
