Offered here is a baseball signed by former National League MVP George Foster, one of the premier power hitters of the 1970s and a key member of Cincinnati's legendary "Big Red Machine." Foster enjoyed an outstanding 18-year Major League career, earning five All-Star selections and finishing with 348 home runs and 1,239 RBI. His greatest season came in 1977, when he blasted 52 home runs, drove in 149 runs and was named the National League Most Valuable Player.
Foster played an important role on Cincinnati's powerhouse clubs that won back-to-back World Series championships in 1975 and 1976. He later joined the New York Mets, playing at Shea Stadium from 1982 through 1986. That connection makes this particular piece especially appropriate, as Foster's autograph appears on a New York Mets Shea Stadium commemorative baseball honoring the ballpark's 1964-2008 history.
The baseball itself presents very well, with bright white surfaces, strong red stitching and colorful New York Mets and Shea Stadium graphics. Foster's signature is prominently placed across a large display panel. As visible in the photographs, the autograph has faded considerably over time and now appears in a lighter gray-brown tone, but remains identifiable and displays nicely alongside the Shea Stadium markings. Please examine all photographs closely for the exact condition of the baseball and signature.
Please note that this autograph has not been independently authenticated by PSA/DNA, JSA or Beckett. However, we guarantee this item will pass third party authentication, but no third-party certificate of authenticity is included with this baseball. We therefore encourage bidders to carefully review the detailed photographs provided and make their own determination regarding the signature before bidding. The baseball pictured is the exact baseball the winning bidder will receive.
The baseball will be professionally packaged with exceptional care and shipped securely with tracking.
