2 1950'S BARBER WILDROOT HAIR TONIC SIGNS

The "Best Hair Tonic In The World" was made by Wildroot Co. Inc. Buffalo N.Y.  "Wildroot Cream-Oil Formula for the hair, 3-Action, Grooms the hair, Relieves dryness, Removes loose dandruff". This was one of the signs of this nature I have found from my dad's barbershop. 

These authentic reproductions was used to market their hair tonics to the barbershops. There are prices and lithos/drawings along with humorous ads on top. The larger sign measures 8 1/2" by 11" 

The rarer door hanger measures 10 1/2" by 5 1/2" and has the string attached to hang as the original I own does as it was taken off the entrance door to his shop. I have only seen one other of this nature but was destroyed over time. This one has a bit of fading as seen in the photos but still remains in great reproduction shape.

 

• My Dad’s Legacy

  I have included photos of my father’s barbershop in Buffalo N.Y. where this was to be sold or used. My father always bought 3 of everything just in case- 1 used 2 stored away new- very lucky for me now. He was a barber for over 65 years in the same location so it’s nice to pass on his passion!  The photos are a bit blurred as they were taken off a TV special on my dad. This is a rare find to most avid barber collectibles.
