DESCRIPTION:
This beautiful, authentic piece of 1980s American studio art glass was hand blown by acclaimed artisan Rebecca Stewart in 1985. The paperweight centers on a rich, vibrant, opaque reddish-orange core orb. Drifting over and around the core are layered, fluid trails of dark glass canes alongside flattened abstract glass veils.
Due to the superb optical properties of the thick, clear crystal casing, rotating the sphere creates a fascinating three-dimensional shifting landscape. The piece highlights the masterfully controlled torchwork lines Stewart is highly regarded for in her mid-1980s catalog. It looks magnificent when placed on a lighted display stand.
CONDITION REPORT:
Excellent vintage condition with no chips, cracks, or deep structural bruising. The dome features high clarity, and the flat base remains smoothly polished.
*PHOTOGRAPHY NOTE*
All bright white concentric circles, bars, or lines appearing on the outer surface of the glass sphere in the photos are reflections and glare from overhead studio lights. They are not internal flaws or cracks.
