A great rare original Prohibition doctor's prescription stub for Oi (Pint) ...Whiskey...for La Grippe aka Influenza! This stub was retained by the doctor and was open to inspection by Federal Officers! Please see photo!
From the days of Al Capone, speakeasies and moonshine this was the only legal way to drink liquor in the US!
The whiskey was prescribed for Fred Martin Jr., by Dr. T. A. Griggs, both of Butte MT on November 17, 1928.
It was issued by the Treasury Department and when held to the light, PROHIBITION is partially watermarked.
Printed in red ink is: "This stub must be clearly and legibly written, and must be retained by the physician as his record subject to inspection by Federal officers".
The prescription stub measures 4 1/2" by 3", has a long bend on the left side, otherwise, condition is excellent...a great prescription from the Prohibition!
This is a FANTASTIC piece of history and would be great to display in a pharmacy, wine cellar, distillery, museum, bar or office! Also a great gift or an addition to a collection of pharmacy, medicine, US currency, Alcoholics Anonymous, Capone, 1920s, bar, Americana, stamps and DEA items!
