Dietz Skater's Lantern Scout Model Antique Brass Oil Lantern
A Dietz "Scout" model skater's lantern, an antique oil lantern identifiable by its brass tank fittings, characteristic of the earlier production run of this style. Very compact and lightweight compared to a typical oil lantern, making it easy to carry for activities like motorcycling. A light surface rust develops on the exterior over time, which can be polished back to a dark shine with beeswax. The original wire hook for securing the glove is intact and the tank fitting is secure with no wobble. The wick raises and lowers smoothly. Due to a thin tank wall, a minor fuel seep was found and sealed from the inside with Fuel Tank Sealer POR-15; no further leaks were found after an overnight test.

Condition — some wear
Condition: Used, Good. There is light surface rust typical of age, a small dent on the side of the tank base that does not affect stability, and one brass tank fastener that sits slightly loose (it seats properly when pressed while turning, but be aware there is a needle-like burr near this fastener, so press carefully). The glass globe has original embossing with minor chips on the upper and lower rims that do not affect use. Please review all photos to confirm the condition before purchase.
