BILD LILLI UNEEDA CLONE DOLL (often referred to as a "Hong Kong Lilli" or early 1960s Barbie clone)

This doll is a vintage 1960s Uneeda "Wendy" doll, a highly collectible 11.5-inch "Barbie clone".

During the 1960s, numerous toy manufacturers produced budget-friendly fashion dolls to compete with Mattel's highly popular Barbie doll. Collectors affectionately call these alternative fashion figures "clones."

PLEASE NOTE!: I've been asked about her feet. They are not damaged. The feet were made that way, presumably to help keep the shoes on, which Barbie notoriously easily lost.

ALSO NOTE:  I have fallen madly in love with this doll and if she suddenly disappears it could very well be that I decided I can't part with her. She really is quite beautiful and so unique and a real part of fashion doll history!

Key Characteristics & Identification

• Earrings:  She actually still has her earrings! And they are in good shape and I can detect no "green ear."

• Face Paint & Eyes: She features the distinct side-glancing painted eyes and white irises, a design borrowed heavily from the aesthetic of the #1 Ponytail Barbie and the German Bild Lilli doll.

• Hair Styling: Her strawberry blonde hair is pulled back into a classic high ponytail style.

• Markings: You can confirm her identity by looking at the back of her neck, which is stamped with a simple "U" for the Uneeda Doll Company.

• Body Build: She has a hollow, lightweight plastic blow-molded body with rigid, non-bending straight legs. Because her dimensions mirror early Barbie dolls, she can wear original 1960s Mattel Barbie fashions.
