The 2024 version of the 70GP S (APO PRO) continues the classic air-spaced triplet apochromatic optical design. Each optical system undergoes rigorous inspection, including artificial star testing and laser interferometry, ensuring that chromatic aberration and spherical aberration are well controlled even at very high magnifications, delivering outstanding image quality. Significant improvements have also been made to the mechanical design. The earlier lens ring and bracket structure has been removed and replaced with the classic dual mounting rings, providing greater stability for deep-sky astrophotography. To preserve the compact and agile nature of the 70GP S, extensive weight reduction has been applied to the mounting rings and CNC narrow dovetail plate, while maintaining structural strength. The new ring handwheels also provide a more secure and refined locking feel. The telescope is equipped with the new field rotator (CAA), offering a smoother and more precise user experience when adjusting the imaging orientation. The mini carrying handle not only makes the telescope easier to transport but can also serve as an accessory mounting platform for devices such as guide scopes or astronomy control boxes. The 2024 70GP S is also newly paired with a dedicated 1× field flattener. This compact flattener delivers excellent performance for APS-C format imaging, providing enthusiasts with greater flexibility for a wide range of astrophotography applications.
