DescriptionAn uncommon original exhibition catalogue for The Fourth Contemporary Art Exhibition of Japan, 1960, published by The Mainichi Newspapers.

A fascinating period catalogue documenting Japanese contemporary art at the beginning of the 1960s. It is illustrated throughout with examples of paintings, prints and sculpture, with captions in both Japanese and English.

Artists represented include Yoshishige Saito, Shigeyuki Shimano, Susumu Notomi, Seiichi Hara, Benji Asada, Koichiro Kondo, Meiji Hashimoto and Iwao Norimatsu, alongside international artists including Massimo Campigli and Giovanni Brancaccio.

An interesting and increasingly difficult-to-find reference for collectors of Japanese modern art, post-war Japanese art, exhibition catalogues and 20th-century art history.

Condition:
Vintage pre-owned condition with visible age and handling wear. The blue covers show rubbing, marks and wear around the edges and corners, consistent with a catalogue dating from 1960. There is some age-related toning/spotting internally. Please study the photographs carefully as these form an important part of the condition description.

Packaging & Shipping: Your item will be professionally wrapped and protected for safe delivery, using suitable padding for fragile ceramics.
