Original vintage black and white Velox photograph, believed to date from around the 1930s.

This interesting candid photograph shows a formally dressed couple apparently attending a Scottish or Highland event. The gentleman is wearing Highland dress including a kilt and sporran, while the lady wears an elaborate hat, long gloves and fur stole.

The couple are believed to possibly be King George VI and Queen Elizabeth (later the Queen Mother), although their identities have not been independently confirmed and the photograph is therefore being sold as unidentified.

The Scottish setting and period are certainly consistent with appearances made by the King and Queen at Highland events during the 1930s, but no original caption or provenance accompanies the photograph to confirm the occasion or the people shown.

The photograph is printed on Velox photographic paper, with several faint oval VELOX marks visible on the reverse. The number 648 is stamped on the back, possibly an original negative, processing or archive reference.

Size: approximately 89mm x 64mm.

Condition: Vintage used condition. The photographic image remains clear with general age-related marks and wear. There is creasing/damage around the upper corners and edges, together with old mounting/paper residue along the upper edge of the reverse, suggesting that it was previously attached to an album or mount.

An intriguing original period photograph with Scottish, Highland and potential Royal interest.
