For sale is a very nice Rolex Datejust 36mm, dating from 1986, with a classic gloss black dial and Jubilee bracelet.

The gloss black dial is flawless and completely unmarked, with silver baton hour markers and fully intact cream-coloured lume plots. The lume on the hands has aged to a matching tone, giving the watch a really attractive and consistent vintage appearance.

It features a quick-set date at 3 o’clock and hacking seconds.

The acrylic crystal is in generally good condition. There are a few small surface scratches here and there, as you would expect from a vintage watch, but nothing significant.

The watch has an engine-turned bezel, which gives it a slightly different look from the more commonly seen fluted and smooth Datejust bezels.

The case is in good overall condition with no major marks or scratches. There are some light hairlines from normal wear, but nothing of any particular note.

It comes on its original Rolex Jubilee bracelet, which is in excellent condition for its age with minimal stretch. The clasp is also in very good condition, with strong hinges and a positive closure that clips securely and holds exactly as it should. The bracelet date code is correct for the age of the watch.

The watch is all original, and the movement is extremely clean.

I do not know the previous service history, so cannot claim when it was last serviced. However, it is currently running very well and is not showing any signs of needing a service. As shown in the timegrapher photograph, it is running at approximately +4 seconds per day.

The crown unscrews, winds and operates very smoothly, and the quick-set date changes crisply and correctly as it should.

Overall, this is a very attractive and honest vintage Datejust, particularly with the flawless gloss black dial, nicely matched original lume and excellent Jubilee bracelet.

The watch will be sent through eBay’s Authenticity Guarantee service, where it will be independently checked before being forwarded on to the buyer for additional peace of mind.
