This is an original check from the bank of Stateler & Arrington datelined Virginia City, N. T. (Nevada Territory), Mch. 14, 1864.  Includes a hand-cancelled blue 2-cent Bank Check revenue stamp.

This was issued by the Gould & Curry Silver Mining Company, and is signed by Charles Strong, who was the superintendent of their mill, and was later replaced by Charles Bonner due his mismanagement and cost overruns on that project - he later took his own life in 1882 after all of his mining investments failed.
