Vintage 80s Solmar Melbourne Grey Leather Pants Size XS Grunge Punk Western
Some pieces don't age. They just wait. These Solmar Melbourne leather pants were made in the 1980s, when the brand was at the height of its reputation — a Melbourne-based label known for premium leather, suede, and fur outerwear that collectors still seek out today. Forty-odd years on, the leather is still soft and supple, the hardware still functions flawlessly, and the silhouette feels less like a relic and more like something a stylist would pull for an editorial shoot.
The cut is quintessentially 1980s: high-waisted with three forward-facing pleats on each side that add volume through the hips while keeping the waist sharply cinched. Deep side slant pockets sit flush against the seams. The leg tapers gently from hip to hem. At the back, a V-shaped yoke seam runs across the upper hips — a Western-influenced detail that was a signature of the era and remains one of the most flattering things a pair of trousers can do for the seat. No back pockets; just clean, uninterrupted lines.
The construction is exactly what you'd expect from a label that took its craft seriously. A heavy-duty brass metal zipper fly, dual snap-button waistband closure (one concealed inner tab, one colour-matched exterior snap), top-stitched belt loops, and pinking-shear finished inner facings to prevent fraying. The upper leg is fully lined in a smooth, colour-matched satin. The lining ends just before the cuff, leaving the natural raw suede underside of the leather exposed — wear them as-is or cuffed for a cleaner finish.
