This lovely pincushion will be a star in your collection of antique sewing tools. It is a large - 4 1/2" long (11 cm) - leather covered metal base in the form of a lady's boot. The metal gives the piece the heft required to keep it stable when in use on a worktable. Flip the top open by pressing the boot lacing just below the lid, et voila! the lid pops open to reveal a silk velveteen pad for the pins. The cushion is a replacement, but nicely done. There are very few flaws - just a few bumps to the leather here and there, but overall in great condition. Late 19th century.
