Issued wide variety of topical series such as Grinnell, IA, cyclone, Johnstown Flood, California negatives probably by other photographers.; fine Middle East Series; Niagara Falls; 87 pub. catalog which listed ~1000 views; sold early negatives to E. & H.T. Anthony, later to Underwood & Underwood for whom he did production work using negatives from himself & other people; later in career was primarily pub. & manager. Born in Salingen, Germany, emigrated to New Bedford, MA took up photography. in 1850s, worked first with brothers Albert (Famous Landscape artist) and Edward in Massachusetts, late 50s/early 60s; dissolved partnership in 67 & came to Niagara, spent rest of career there; retired 91, D.
