Up for sale is a gorgeous bi disc / nephrite jade pendant of an intense and elegant red / reddish brown color. This piece stands out for its painstaking work of hand carved (openwork / openwork), combining rich traditional Chinese symbolism with a great aesthetic presence.
Complete Auspicious Symbology:
Center character "Fu" (福): The center medallion houses deep traditional Chinese character for "Good Fortune", "Prosperity" and "Happiness".
Twin Dragons (Double Dragon): Bordering the top of the circle are two dragons carved face to face guarding the center pearl/orb, a classic symbol of protection, power, good luck and balance.
Hollow Outside Rim: Decorated with thin curved grooves that simulate movement or fire/wind trails.
Fabrication and Finishing Detail:
Double-sided carving: The piece features relief and detail on both sides, worked with great precision into the interior drafts and contours.
Suspension holes: It features holes in the ends (top and bottom), ideal for mounting as a large pendant, drawstring charm, or to display on a vintage stand/stand.
Tone and Patina: Very particular deep reddish hue with subtle variations of natural stone veining, giving a classic and refined appearance.
