A gilded wooden figure of the seated Buddha Shakyamuni, Shan, Burma, early 19th century

A rare tall and slender image of the Buddha, lacquered and gilded heavy wood.
The Buddha is seated in padmasana on a high multi-tiered and very detailed carved throne, his very long right hand in bhumisparsha mudra. The long earlobes doesn’t touch the shoul-ders, what could indicate a greater age. The form of the image is perfectly complemented by the very tall finial above the ushnisha.

condition: the lips with a minor chip, the tip of the thumb of the left hand is chipped, otherwise very good condition
