Rare 1936 Jewish National Fund KKL Yiddish Pamphlet Kaunas Lithuania Blue Box
tri-fold promotional and fundraising pamphlet produced for the Keren Kayemeth LeIsrael (KKL), also known as the Jewish National Fund (JNF). The document was printed in Kaunas, Lithuania, by the Ekspres press (Spaustuve Ekspres) and is dated February 5, 1936. The text is primarily in Yiddish with Hebrew headings, intended for the Lithuanian Jewish community to encourage donations to the Blue Box (Bloye Pushke) campaign for land acquisition in Mandatory Palestine. The exterior panels feature a graphic of the JNF collection box and a halftone photograph of a pioneer woman with citrus fruit. The text provides statistics on land growth, citing an increase from 59,000 dunams in 1919 to 375,000 dunams by 1935. The interior contains five halftone photographs illustrating development projects: construction at Haifa Port, a tractor clearing land in Wadi Hawarith (Emek Hefer), modernist urban apartment blocks, and agricultural workers near a modernist water tower. The printer mark at the bottom left reads: Spaustuve Ekspres Kaunas, Luksio 12. Tel. 39-47. 5. II. 1936.
