1850 Prospectus for the Western Bugle Newspaper Circular Letter issued by Almon W. Babbitt of Kanesville (Council Bluffs), Iowa in 1850. The paper did not make it to print until April of 1852 and then only lasted about a year when it was bought out by someone else and the name was changed to the Council Bluffs Bugle. Kanesville, Iowa was officially changed to Council Bluffs shortly after this circular was issued. This copy was mailed by Illinois Congressman William A. Richardson and included is an envelope it came in with his franked signature. Richardson writes a note on the circular asking that the person he addressed it to "Mr. Fulsom" "do what you can for this Democatic undertaking." Richardson also was a Democratic U.S. Senator and Territorial Governor of Nebraska.  Measures 8 x 10" approximately. Clean folds as it was originally mailed. Envelope has some pencil writing on the back that someone added at some point in time. Good condition.  We combine postage on multiple items purchased to save costs.
