Antique19th century Holy Family shadow box.

This beautiful religious 3 D artwork has a prayer from Pope Pius VII "Jesus Mary and Joseph I give all my heart and soul to you. 100 indulgences Pius VII". Because of that I date this piece to well before 1823 (he died in 1823 and Catholic religious shadow boxes use indulgence prayers from the sitting Pope of the time).

The wonderfully carved wood frame measures 21.5" X 17.5".

The plaster family is set against a picture of Jerusalem crowned by a gilded ornate swag and framed by gathers of thick white satin, does have some dust inside because of age. 

The back of this artwork is typical for it's age: rough looking with old cracked oil paper and peeling tape. There are two strands of twisted wire for hanging.
