ITEM DESCRIPTION
This is 1 of a number of really interesting items that once belonged to a lady from North Yorkshire. She was an avid metal detectorist as well as amateur archaeologist. She travelled far and worldwide and collected rocks, minerals, semi-precious gemstones, fossils, and anything pretty much natural or from the land. I met her many years ago as our paths crossed and I went along to see her collections. In amongst her items which I bought from a live auction, I found 2 items which I had sold her many years ago. Here are just a small selection of items from her vast collecting themes. I have grouped some Roman pottery pieces but many are singular items. I am not too familiar with the rock types so apologies if I have had made any mistakes. All are my ref. code #CL
This is a little vintage rhino figurine hand carved from a piece of malachite hardstone.
No maker's marks etc.

The tip of the front horn has been chipped off.
The left front and back feet have been broken off and reglued back on as shown in the photos. The feet do have some small chips on the edges.

It measures approx. 36mm tall x 85mm x 24mm. It weighs approx. 83.5grams.
