A magnificent 18th Century carved oak bureau, believed to date from circa 1760–1800, showcasing exceptional hand craftsmanship throughout.
Richly hand carved across every visible surface, this remarkable fall-front bureau displays beautiful floral and geometric motifs, deep relief carving and outstanding period character. The sloping writing fall opens to reveal a wonderfully fitted interior with pigeonholes, small drawers and a traditional writing surface, making it as practical today as when it was first made over two centuries ago.
Constructed from solid oak, the bureau has developed a beautiful deep colour and genuine patina through generations of careful use. Every mark, subtle imperfection and sign of age contributes to its authenticity and historic charm.
The piece retains all three original working locks with their keys and is exceptionally heavy, solid and well constructed throughout.
Condition:
Very good antique condition for its age. One professionally repaired crack to the left side of the fall front as shown in the photographs. Structurally excellent with age-related wear, marks and patina entirely consistent with an authentic late 18th Century piece.
