Sixteen years ago the Yotei Six burned down Atsu's home, pinned her to a ginkgo tree with a sword, and rode off, which remains the worst investment decision in the history of Ezo. She came back as a mercenary carrying that exact same blade, a wolf with strong opinions, and a shamisen for nights when she wants Mount Yotei to hear who is coming. Ghost of Yotei lets the whole island whisper that she is an onryō, and Atsu never bothers to correct anyone, because a ghost story travels faster than a horse and lands harder than a bounty poster. Lord Saito and the rest of the Six spend the game finding out what happens when the girl in the tree keeps a list, and she is very organised.
