The Konvas-2M (1KCR-2M / 1KSR-2M) is a portable, rugged Soviet 35mm motion picture camera manufactured by MosKINAP for handheld or light tripod shooting. It features a single-lens port, a single-plane film movement, a single-blade mirror shutter, and interchangeable quick-change magazines. Also, the lenses (and glass in them) were changing rapidly by the time the Konvas 2M came around. The lighter prime lenses were giving way to the heavier zoom lenses, as the speed of the zooms was becoming more reasonable. A sturdier mount was needed to help hold the extra weight, but also gave more room for cinematographers to have a better choice of glass.

Film Format: Standard and widescreen 35mm film (compatible with KS and B&H perforations).

Lens Mount: Sturdy single-lens OCT-19 mount (more durable than the older OCT-18 turret mount and frequently upgraded to Arri PL).

Motors: Powered by electronic or crystal-sync motors like the 15EPSS or 17EP-16APK for stable frame rates.

Magazines: Uses quick-change external film magazines, typically in 60m (200 ft) or 120m (400 ft) capacities.

Sound Level: Classified as a loud MOS (Mit Out Sound) camera, typically operating around 55–60 dB.
