Up for bidding is a Sears Bank & Trust Company - Sears Tower Chicago, IL. vintage model statue. Solid, measuring almost 8" tall. A great keepsake with the original name of this iconic skyscraper in Chicago.


The item featured is a vintage Banthrico Sears Tower coin bank, manufactured in Chicago during the 1970s.


It was Produced by Banthrico Inc., a company highly famous for creating cast metal promotional piggy banks for banks and financial institutions.


Material & Build: It is constructed from a heavy cast metal alloy with a distinctive copper-bronze finish


Dimensions: The figurine stands approximately 7.5 inches tall.


Inscription: The base features an embossed message reading: "Sears Tower - Home of - Sears Bank and Trust Company".


Functionality: It functions as a "still bank" with a coin entry slot located on the bottom, and a keyed oval trap door on the bottom base for retrieving saved change. Key is not included.


Historical Significance. This piece was produced as a promotional souvenir to commemorate the opening of the Sears Tower (now officially known as the Willis Tower) in 1973. The building served as the flagship headquarters for Sears, Roebuck & Co., while its lower levels housed the main office of the Sears Bank and Trust Company. Today, these banks are highly sought-after collectibles by enthusiasts of vintage Americana and architectural memorabilia


All of the banks and items I currently have listed came from one family that travelled the world collecting these items from the 1960’s to the 1990’s. They were all well cared for and in excellent shape overall.
