The Miró lithograph extends across the front and rear covers and is best viewed with the publication fully opened. Its vivid primary colors, black biomorphic forms and calligraphic lines are characteristic of Miró’s work of the late 1950s.

Condition

The original wrappers show age-related toning, soiling, spotting and rubbing. There is visible wear and some surface-paper loss along the upper edge, together with creasing and a small area of separation or wear near the lower spine. The corners and outer edges also show handling wear.

The interior sheets are generally in good vintage condition, with light age toning and occasional minor spotting. The colors of the Miró cover lithograph remain strong.

The separately paginated “Maeght Editeur 1959” catalogue is included.

Please examine all photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the condition description.

Comment

Only the wraparound cover is an original color lithograph by Joan Miró.

The interior images associated with Braque, Bazaine, Giacometti and Tal-Coat are period reproductions after their works and are not individually signed original prints.

The Miró lithograph was issued unsigned and unnumbered as an integral part of this original 1959 publication. This is a collectible period art journal rather than a separately signed limited-edition print.
