Very rare set of patriotic/military music chimes by J. C. Deagan. Believed to be nickel or silver plated the instrument is from early 1900’s and weighs approximately 30 pounds. Chimes are 18 1/2", 14", 11 1/2", 9 1/2" and 7" and 3" round. These were commonly found in railway cars, steamships and within the military to announce and call for dinner. Also popular in vaudeville, radio channels and widely recognized by the famous NBC chime call.

Measures approximately 19" tall by 22" long. Has 5 chimes with 6 music plates with notes and song titles. The following is the list of songs: FLAG, CHURCH, TATTOO, REVEILLE, TAPS, and STABLE.

Has nice shine but this is not perfect and in unrestored vintage condition. There are signs of age and overall wear from use and storage. The chimes resonate and sound good but we have no way to measure frequency and may need tuning. No mallet included.

Has scrapes, scratches, nicks and chips as pictured. Some finish loss and light oxidation on chimes. Wood base has splits and cracks with chips missing from veneer. Still holds solid. Some corrosion visible on brackets and fasteners for music plaques.

This is designed to hang or be displayed and used flat. No feet or hangers on back. No maker or patent info displayed but have found these tubular models in 1917 music books from John Calhoun Deagan factory in Chicago
