Classification: OC4-an

History: Found in Algeria 27 km southwest of Akabli and 107 km east-southeast of Reggane. Acquired by M. Benzaki and B. Essbiti from a meteorite hunter on December 13, 2022, and subsequently purchased by Mark Lyon in January 2023.

Physical characteristics: A polished slice of this meteorite reveals numerous tightly packed chondrules with matrix metal which is disseminated throughout as fine grains but also occurring as thick prominent veins and masses decorating and bounding chondrules. This meteorite is mildly brecciated with fragmented chondrules present. Chondrules are variable in size with some up to ~1-2 mm in apparent diameter.

Petrography: (C. Agee, UNM) This meteorite consists primarily of porphyritic type I chondrules, Fe-Ni metal (kamacite), troilite, chromite, and Cl-rich apatite. Metal abundance is approximately 25% (volume). Plagioclase is present and the metamorphic grade is approximately type 4.

Classification: Ordinary chondrite, type 4, anomalous (OC4-an). Anomalous based on the oxygen isotope values and the Fa and Fs values.

Specimens: 20 g on deposit at UNM, Mark Lyon holds the main mass.
