No obvious major tears, punctures or large areas of paint loss are visible through the glazing. The painting has not been removed from the frame, so the edges, reverse and exact support have not been fully examined.
The frame shows scratches, scuffs and small marks consistent with age and previous handling. The backing board also shows age-related wear and faded markings.

Comment
An intimate Russian autumn landscape depicting two large trees beside a small rural cottage.
Warm ochre and brown foliage is balanced by deep greens and a softly painted blue sky. Short, layered brushstrokes create a lively texture throughout the trees and foreground, while the simple composition conveys the quiet atmosphere of the Russian countryside.
The modest scale and direct, plein-air quality give the work the character of a carefully observed landscape study. The signature and style suggest a possible attribution to Nikolai Efimovich Timkov, one of the notable landscape painters associated with the Leningrad School.
