Comment
This atmospheric oil painting depicts a solitary figure walking along a pale forest path after rainfall.
Soft whites, cool grays, pale blues and subtle touches of violet create a misty, almost dreamlike atmosphere. Two slender birch trees rise through the center of the composition, while the winding path draws the viewer deep into the landscape.
The expressive brushwork and restrained palette give the painting a quiet, lyrical quality associated with modern Impressionist landscape painting.
The work is signed and retains its older Japanese identification and dealer labels on the reverse.
