Until now, the EU has applied the de minimis system, which exempts imported goods valued at 150 euros or less from customs duties. However, the rules will change as follows.

Effective Date: Wednesday, July 1, 2026 (for shipments cleared on or after this date)

Applicable Destination Countries: EU member states (27 countries), including France, Germany, and Italy *The United Kingdom is excluded due to its withdrawal from the EU

Changes: A flat rate of 3 euros in customs duties plus handling fees will be levied per item on imported goods valued at 150 euros or less.

In addition to the 3-euro customs duty mentioned above, a common EU handling fee (approximately 2 euros) is scheduled to be imposed. Please be aware that this will have a significant impact on the cost structure of low-value goods.
