Below, the names of each volume are listed with a short description:
Solid two volume complete set for Aeschylus. Very handsome set, clean crisp text blocks. Only one of the two volumes has a lightly written name from previous owner on front end paper.
One Aristotle volume: The Politics, like new, crisp clean pages, unmarked. Only blemish: no dust jacket.
6 Plato volumes (with very few blemishes) which include the following dialogues:
1. EUTHYPHRO APOLOGY CRITO PHAEDO PHAEDRUS, textblock unmarked, solid like new copy, no wear to cover from age, inside immaculate.
3. The Laws, volume one only (of two) textblock unmarked. Crisp clean pages! Slight wear to cover from age and handling, otherwise very sharp copy!
4. Meno, Laches, Protagoras, Euthydemus. Aside from one page with three words underlined, textblock unmarked like the others. Some light pencil was erased. But not really noticeable. One page slightly longer than the others. Usually folded in. Also, former owner name written neatly, very small on front endpaper paper. Otherwise, solid vintage copy to study from. Not a collectable copy though!
5. Theatetus and Sophist. Text-block unmarked. No writing, underlining, pencil or ink. Handsome vintage hardcover, in near fine dust jacket protected in plastic Mylar. These older Loebs were made of much higher quality. The pages are thicker, ink darker, you can just tell they are made of higher quality materials, the hardback cover too, much more superior to the newer Loebs when a new editor took over. Especially the most recent one. Quality has gone immensely downhill. Just inside front of volume a stamp was written over with black marker. In that same area, there is light damage to the paper, otherwise the book is clean, tight, and free of any markings and or damage. Some pages, along one corner, or another, are creased slightly (see pictures).
6. Plato’ Statesman, Philebus, Ion. Only two blemishes: Beginning of first dialogue only has pencil underlining, light notes, one page small rip. Overall clean solid volume. Of the 400 or so pages. Only the first 35 pages of the English rendering have the pencil underlining. The entire remainder is clean and beautiful.
Lastly, a Demosthenes volume which includes his most important oration, On the Crown, a must study for a student of Ancient Greece, rhetoric and oratory. This volume is tight tight tight and seemingly unread! It’s also completely unmarked though out and I recently protected its dust jacket in Mylar plastic like the others. The jacket is exceedingly nice for its age. Only one blemish to take note of however: just inside the front cover, after the front end paper, before table of contents, an area between two pages is starting to separate/come unglued. But the front and back are tight and 99% of the volume is tight. Just that one weak area somehow!
