Tales of the Sudan Defence Force is a compilation of first-hand accounts and memoirs of British officers serving in the Sudan Defence Force (SDF). Compiled by Major John Hatton Rolt Orlebar, who served with the S.D.F. in Sudan, Eritrea and N. Africa 1933-1943.

The SDF itself was a British-led, locally recruited military force formed in 1925 to police the region and defend Sudan's borders, eventually seeing action during the East African Campaign of World War II.
