The History Behind the Model:

During the 1940s and 1950s, "large" road rollers were typically single or tandem steel drum diesel rollers in the heavy 7–15 ton class. Due to severe global steel shortages following World War II, manufacturers often had to get creative—frequently converting or evolving these diesel models from earlier steam roller designs and assembling them using older machine components. This model perfectly captures that rugged, transitional post-war engineering. A lot of these machines remained in service right until the late 1970's.
