Exceptional French Figural Dragon Chandelier in Nickel-Plated Brass with Opal Glass Globes, France c. 1960

This exceptional six-light French chandelier dates from around 1960 and is crafted from solid brass with an elegant nickel-plated finish. Weighing approximately 14 kilograms, it reflects the outstanding quality of traditional French craftsmanship.

What immediately catches the eye are the six magnificent dragon-head arms. Their sculptural design, sweeping wings and expressive details give the chandelier an impressive architectural presence. Equally remarkable are the finely cast female mascarons around the central body, adding a touch of mythology and classical elegance.

A particular highlight are the large opal white glass globes. Their soft, diffused light contrasts beautifully with the cool silver tone of the nickel finish, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The combination of sculptural bronze work and luminous opal glass gives this chandelier an elegant appearance both when illuminated and when unlit.

The richly ornamented central column, decorated with classical reliefs, floral motifs and finely cast details, demonstrates the exceptional craftsmanship throughout the entire piece.
